In the both the Whoosh and A.I., the SaniSolution, Whoosh Litter or Washable Granules are tested and proven safe for your plumbing and septic/sewer systems.
Will my cat use it?
Most cats take to a CatGenie system quickly and easily, but others may need some extra support. Close to a half a million cats and their owners transitioned to a CatGenie. The CatGenie team has consulted with cat behaviorists and trainers and for close two decades have been working with cats and their owners. Follow the steps laid out in our Cat Acclimation Guide, and nearly all cats transition to a CatGenie.
Can I use any type of cat litter?
The simple answer is NO. In the CatGenie A.I., NEVER use cat litter, only Washable Granules. In the CatGenie Whoosh, use only the the CatGenie Whoosh Super Clumping Litter, or other recommended and plumbing-safe Tofu* or Cassava-based litters that we have tested to work with the GenieHand and are water-soluble.
We supply litter-like Washable Granules & Whoosh Litter that provide cats with the material they need to dig and cover. The Washable Granules are made specially for the CatGenie A.I.. Anything else will damage the unit, clog your pipes, and void your Warranty.
*Only specific-size Tofu that easily sifts, similar to the Whoosh Super Clumping Cat Litter can be used in the CatGenie Whoosh.
Is it septic safe?
Yes!
The CatGenie A.I. & the CatGenie Whoosh are safe for septic systems when used with approved supplies.
In the CatGenie A.I. only waste water and a few Washable Granules get flushed each day. Any Washable Granules flushed will be broken down by bacteria because they are specially formulated to be able to biodegrade.
The CatGenie Whoosh uses Tofu litter made from soybean pulp, a byproduct of processing soybeans for tofu and soy milk. It is safe for cats, 99% dust free and dissolves in water. Once scooped by the CatGenie all clumps and solid waste are liquified and safely flushed.
