I feel good about using this washable litter. It makes me happy to help the environment. I used to use scoopable cat litter and I went through it (with two large cats) like crazy. I HATED hauling the giant tubs of it into my cart at Costco and then into the car and out of the car...then trodding into thte house with them...Yuck. Not to mention the storage space it took up, and the guilt of throwing them away after just one use! What a waste! These little boxes are expensive, yes, but it's smaller than a box of cereal and it lasts months (my cats don't have the hardest waste in the world, so I go through more than most people probably do). Great invention! Thanks! (Posted on 7/12/2010)
My kittens started out by using conventional litter (corn) and adjusted seamlessly to the CatGenie "plastic" granules. This was the one thing that most concerned me when I went to purchase my first Genie - "Will my kitties like the new litter?". To my amazement and relief - they never knew the difference! Also, what could be better than litter that gets cleaned instead of tossed!! The litter does "bounce" on hard surfaces so you will probably want to get a mat for in front of the box (Tuxedo package comes with one, I think, AND its a great value). Otherwise, no concerns at all. The web site says that the replenishment box will last about 6 months and so far that has held true for me! :) You really can't go wrong with this "litterbox" - I think I'd rather do without my dishwasher than this appliance! :) (Posted on 6/12/2010)
I love this thing! I don't have to deal with the cat litter and scooping, but the only problem we come up with is sometimes when it is cleaning it has a funny smell. So I don't know if it is something we are doing or what. (Posted on 6/7/2010)
And $24 for a box of throw-away plastic scrap is expensive.
**From Petnovations. It is not scrap. It is specially formulated plastic with a unique additive that makes the plastic appetizing to bacteria and be biodegradable, washable and reusable.** (Posted on 5/26/2010)
