News 8 TV in Southern California, tested the CatGenie at the prestigious
Helen Woodward Animal Center. This is a transcript of Jeff’s report.

It’s been called the ultimate in kitty comfort, a no-touch, self-cleaning cat litter box called the CatGenie. The machine maker sent the new invention to New 8. We sent it to a well-known animal center to put the CatGenie to the test. Jeff Zevely picks up the story from there:

Our experiment starts at the Helen Woodward Animal Center. Center spokesman John VanZante receives and unveils the package. "Very High-Tech". The self-cleaning cat litter box comes with a thick instruction manual. Only tools needed are a wrench or pliers. From here the CatGenie is set up for a trial run at the center’s cat kennel. "We all hate cleaning the litter box, when News 8 contacted us and said we have a self-cleaning litter box, will you give it a test? We said yes, absolutely," said VanZante

Installation goes like this; the litter box needs cold water that you tap into off of a bathroom or laundry room line. The plumbing part takes a little bit of work, but anyone can pull this off, you plug the CatGenie into a nearby outlet. Finally the system needs a place to drain, either one like this or a toilet will work just fine. The kitty litter in the machine is washable and reusable. That way you’ll no longer have to buy bag after bag of the stuff. The CatGenie concept is fairly simple. Liquids drain out of the basin and are washed away. For solids the scooper does the work. The waste is liquefied and sent down the drain. The system then washes and sanitizes the granules which are then blown dry with hot air.

"I think it’s terrific," and so do the cats. Overall, two weeks of use went well.

"What did you think of the CatGenie?’ (Jeff asked of a cat) He’s purring. That’s always a good sign. The center’s staff also gave the CatGenie its stamp of approval. "Definitely, we never scoop it, we do nothing with it" "It’s definitely less work, it’s doing what it’s supposed to do."

So, if you’re sick of scooping and you don’t mind spending the $300.00 "It’s perfect and the cats adapt right away, so it seems to work really well."

Jeff Zevely – News 8, San Diego, CA

I Love the CatGenie Self-Washing Concept.

(We asked Dr. Michael Moyers to use a Beta CatGenie at his veterinary hospital in Pennsylvania. Here is his reaction to the CatGenie as told to one of his clients.)
At first I was skeptical that the cats at the hospital would take to the CatGenie. To my surprise they all used the CatGenie immediately. We had it hooked up directly to the plumbing. I wondered if the CatGenie worked. It worked so well I hadn’t realized that it was doing its thing. I love the self-washing concept. The CatGenie is amazing!
