I travel for work and rely on neighbors to help watch the needy girls in my house. I have had several automated boxes and all have their weaknesses. Mostly still need liter and cleaning. If the girls aren't happy neither are my rugs or furniture.
I have to admit I had tried the CatGenie before and returned as my big girl got frustrated with it being dirty or in a cycle and would poop on the floor in front of it.
I acquired my son's CG as his cats barely use the litter box since they have put in a cat door for them to go outside. Customer support was very helpful with some issues I had with it, I ordered my second CG so now have 2 side by side. No messes as I have staggered the cleaning cycle.
The only downfall I would say with this is the plastic pasta tracking all over the house.
