The CatGenie alleviates the WORST part of being a cat owner.
I was skeptical at first, but after six months, I have no words to describe how positively pleased I am with this product, or how relieved I am that I made the decision to buy it. Savings of time, money, and stress make CatGenie worth every single penny.
You can't put a price on the time saved. No daily scooping, no regret scooping (you know, when you forget to scoop and your cat poops in your shoe to let you know, and then have a hassle-riddled cleaning session because the mess built up) no extensive monthly deep clean sessions, no torn liners, no trips to the store to buy litter and continually switching to find the best one, and no more constant trips to the garbage!!!
Before CatGenie, I've used almost every box and type of litter on the market: Hooded boxes, Sifting boxes, the Omega Paw, Scoop Free crystal self-cleaning, Litter Maid self-cleaning, Tidy Cats Breeze system, and more. Every single one of them had crucial flaws. There was always a mess. They always needed attention. And trying to find the perfect solutions for my cats was impossible. I've probably spent thousands of dollars trying to find best system over my years as a cat owner! =(
So, let's talk price! I was initially very put off by the price tag on this. However, at the time I made this purchase, I was spending about $50 a month on heavy premium litter and supplies. In the 6 months I've had my Genie, it's almost paid for itself. I have two cats, and one $25 Sani-solution cartridge (with discounts, $28 on Amazon+shipping) lasts them about 6 weeks. In six months of auto mode, I'm on my 4th cartridge, and have gone through 1 $24 box of granules. I also purchased the maintenance cartridge $25 and run it twice, but it lasts for a year. So, in 6 months, I estimate I've spent about $121 on supplies. 6 months of litter at the rate I was going would have been $300! With their auto ship bundles you can save by not having to pay shipping, and it even makes getting supplies automated.
Most importantly, NO DAY TO DAY HASSLE! This is the most trouble-free system I've dealt with. I stop sometimes, take a deep breath, and just marvel about the fact that I DON'T have to clean the box.
I warn guests to flush before they use the toilet just in case they get a surprise, but that's about it. Haha. Follow the directions and set everything up properly, and there's no fuss. The unit beeps when it's time to change the cartridge. No scooping, no messing with heavy litter, no having to mess with their mess. The litter does track a lot, but no more than any other litter. I purchased the mat, and I just pick it up and dump the granules back in to be washed and reused. Having the high-sides and the hood also cut down litter tracking and deal with 'high-peeing' kitties.
I've only had one huge problem. About a week ago, I noticed that the unit wasn't scooping right, so I started trouble shooting. I called the Customer Service number, left a short message, and received a call back within minutes. Margie was wonderful. She walked me through everything step-by-step, and determined that for some reason, a Sani-solution cartridge was leaking, and the solution had gotten in the motor and on some of the moving parts in the base. She walked me through how to take it all apart and clean it up, (that was a gross ordeal, but not much worse than if you've ever had to deep clean any other self-cleaning box) and sent me a replacement part within a few days. I called support again when I got the part, and got the same person, Margie! She remembered my issue, and helped me make sure everything was working perfectly. They send me what I needed free of charge, paid all of the shipping, and everything was done timely, and efficiently.
Their customer service is outstanding. Hands down one of the best support experiences I've had.
So, even with that problem, I still claim that the Cat Genie has been the BEST investment that I've made for both me and my cats. I kick myself that I didn't buy one sooner.
I've recommend this to all my friends. ;) If you're on the fence about this, I urge you to pull the trigger. With the 90 return policy, you've got nothing to lose and SO MUCH time, long-term savings, and stress-free enjoyment with your kitties to gain!
