I waited and watched the Cat Genie for quite a while before taking the plunge. I have 6 cats and I purchased 2 of the Tuxedo packages. It was a huge chunk of money for me and I'm glad to see they now have an option for people that don't have that chunk of change.
But back to the review....3 of the cats go outside, the older ones stay inside so I keep both units on manual. Some of the cats are picky so I leave one without a dome and one on. The litter granules do get around so I definitely recommend buying some sort of pad. I'm trying out the pad that Cat Genie sells but have not received it yet.
As for the Logistics of the units, I found that it works better for me to have them both in the same room. You can connect them to the same water supply, which I have done with the Toilet. You use both connectors on the water line, just don't run them at the same time. The hoses are long enough that you can put the units in a closet right next to the Toilet.
Customer Service is awesome, Cats may track something into the unit at some point and it may wrap around the hopper. They easily walked me through unsnapping a few parts to get to a string wrapped around it.
Given the option of using the Cat Genie and buying the cartridges and granules, I would definitely do this. There is absolutely no going back once you have this in your home. We all know the drill of what it takes to maintain Litter Boxes in your home, the smell that lingers, the hassle of getting the litter, disposing of it, not to mention the effects on the environment from it.
Overall, my cats are happy to always have a clean and tidy Litter Box and we are happy to not have to clean one!
